Shark Tooth Creek field trip

We had such a great time at Shark Tooth Creek
Here is a little information about Shark Tooth Creek, which is in between Eutaw and Aliceville, Al, found on their website:
"According to the Museum of Natural History, seventy million years ago a great deal of the state of Alabama was part of the Gulf of Mexico.  It is believed that the area around Aliceville was once a barrier island, much like present day Dauphin Island, and that the shark teeth washed ashore, eventually to be buried by geological processes.  Today  teeth from 16 different species of sharks can be found in Shark Tooth Creek"

We started off the morning listening to the hilarious Mr. Ken.

We learned about the different types of shark teeth that we could come across.

And then we hopped on the Shark Tooth Creek Express and headed to find some shark teeth!

look what Thomas found!!!

after we made it back to the pavilion, Mr. Ken held a biggest tooth contest!

Thomas had the biggest shark tooth and won a free t-shirt!

then we had the opportunity to visit the playground at his house. the students had such a great time on the water slide!

even Miss Hunter joined in on the fun!

this was a very fun and educational field trip that went along great with our researching the Ocean biome this summer but I highly recommend it to everyone. the kids and teachers had a blast!
