we had the opportunity to listen to some wonderful stories told to us by a storyteller at Ruby Pickens Tartt Library. she told us the stories of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Susan Spider and the Fly, and The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs.
we had a blast swimming at the SUB pool and...
having snack at Sonic!
Miss Shemshat, who is getting her Master's in Counseling here at UWA, used Stratalogica to show us where her homeland, Turkmanistan, is and discussed the ocean we would have to cross to get there.
Dr. Satcher brought her summer PE class over for some afternoon fun again this semester.
a morning message:
we received a grant this summer that allowed us to take our students to Books-a-Million where they each had $20 to spend on books. each student picked out a book about the biome we are studying, Oceans. we also got to have a yummy lunch at Chick-fil-a!
the students really enjoyed reading their new books on the ride home :)
Dr. Green-Burns stopped by today and introduced himself to the class. he and Miss Shemshat will be helping students during their transition into their new grade in weekly 30 minute sessions. next week he is bringing his two parakeets to spend the day with us!!!
this week we started discussing the 5 oceans. we started with the Atlantic Ocean.
we looked at the location of the Atlantic Ocean in reference to our country.
we also watched a short video on the sinking of the Titanic and learned about the Atlantic Ocean Garbage Patch.
we also looked at the location of the Arctic Ocean and noticed that it was made up of ice and water. We learned that it is cold because it is near the North Pole. We watched a short video about the Arctic Ocean.
We also used Google Earth on StrataLogica to look at our school, the football field, and all around town!
